Carolyn Schrock-Shenk

Carolyn Schrock-Shenk, 63, of Goshen, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 at Goshen Hospital.

She was born July 22, 1955 in Goshen to David and Anna Ruth (Bontrager) Schrock.

She is survived by her sons, Caleb and John Shrock-Shenk and their father, David Shenk, all of Goshen; sisters, Judy (Darold) Beachy, Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Velma (Sheldon) Swartz and Shirley (Jim) Troyer, both of Goshen; brother, Stephen Schrock, Middlebury; and sisters-in-law, Norma Schrock, Goshen and Rhonda Schrock, Middlebury.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Clifford and Larry Schrock.

Carolyn was a long-time Goshen resident who lived three years in the Philippines and ten years in Lancaster, Pennsylvania working for MCC from 1987 to 2000. She taught Peace and Justice Conflict Studies at Goshen College from 2000 to 2017. In 2014, she started a May term, Inside-Out Class, at Elkhart County Correctional Center. Carolyn was an EMC graduate in nursing and had her Master’s in Community Health from the University of Virginia.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at Assembly Mennonite Church, 1201 S. 11 ^th St., Goshen where a 1 p.m. memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 9. Pastor Karl Shelly will officiate.

Memorial contributions can be given to Goshen College for the Inside-Out program.
